Want to be an avatar in Please Stay Calm?
Hey folks, we want to add some more avatars to our game so here’s a quick and easy contest:
- Post a link to a cool photo of you in action in the comments here or mention us on Twitter @pleasestaycalm
- Important, this is for Player Character Avatars, not zombies
- We’ll judge completely subjectively based on pose, choice of weapon and your overall badassness
- We’re looking for people who look different than the current avatars and again, our judging will be totally subjective
The winner will get to be an avatar in Please Stay Calm and we’ll send you a t-shirt
Good luck!

Fun and nifty Please Stay Calm BETA survey results
Thanks everyone for taking the time to fill out the survey for our BETA. Just for fun, I thought I’d post some of the results.
We got about 160 completed surveys. It’s not a lot but it was a long-ish survey and the results are still interesting as this is a predominantly tech-savvy, early adopter audience.
What city do you live in?
The majority of our BETA applicants are from Toronto.. which is not surprising as it’s our hometown
What role do you think you would be best suited for in the event of a zombie apocalypse?
Looking at the preference of Engineer roles.. you’ll be glad to know we have weapon and safehouse upgrading.
What device will you be using to play Please Stay Calm?
An impressive 50% showing for iPhone 4! Android coming in at a decent 14%.
What OS are you running on your device?
Good to see most people at iOS 4.x and up. 15% of you are iOS developers it seems
And now for some interesting stuff…
How often do you use Foursquare?
About 40% use Foursquare more than a few times a week. Basically it looks like if you use Foursquare, you use it often, otherwise you don’t use it all.
How often do you use Facebook Places?
Even among the this early adopter audience, Facebook Places is not really getting traction.
Thanks again for your BETA applications, we’ll be sending out invitations via TestFlight within the next couple of weeks! In the meantime, please stay calm.
BETA applications being sent out..
We’re happy to announce that we’ve started sending out our BETA surveys. If you haven’t signed up for BETA, you can do so here: PleaseStayCalm.com
We’ll be sending out another batch of emails later this week. After that BETA signups will be CLOSED.
Thanks everyone for your patience, the wait will be worth it!
Why the name Massive Damage?
Our original name, Endloop X was always meant to be a temporary one until we had time to figure out a proper name.
In line with our goals to disrupt the mobile social gaming space, we picked a name that was, to us, self evident:
Massive Damage = Massively Multiplayer + Massive Disruption + Massive Impact
Also the name is great for messing around with cool logo ideas:

Oh and some amazing news on Please Stay Calm coming VERY SOON!
Sneak Peak of Please Stay Calm from GDC 2011
This was the video we made to help us show off Please Stay Calm at this year’s GDC.
Here is some additional info regarding the gameplay:
This game is NOT Mafia Wars with a map slapped on top of it. Here are our key features:
- Location is key, it’s not about geography, it’s about people’s inherent affinity to their favorite spots. While the game can be played from your office, players will derive more value from moving around. We aim to be able to direct players to specific locations for special events.
- A venue is a natural opportunity to drive organic social team play without the usual headaches involve with explicit teamwork. We call this asynchronous dynamic massively co-operative gameplay.
- Our game integrates existing social graph information into the game narrative. Since the game fiction is layered on top of the real world, people will immediately feel like they are playing in a vibrant active game world even if few people are actually playing in their area.
Keep your eyes on this space as we approach our first test release!
Are you a survivor?
There is a reason why disaster movies are so popular. Beyond the obvious spectacle of the special effects and epic action set pieces, I think we also wonder how we would fare under those circumstances.
Most of us would like to believe we can survive in the face of such adversities like meteors, ice ages, and yes even zombie apocalypses.
Here’s an awesome group shot of the hardy survivors of Please Stay Calm (by our amazing artist Ïve Bastrash).
Let us know in the comments which ones you like and if any of them truly resonates with your vision of yourself as a survivor!
